Here are a couple of new screenshots showing off the “joystick” control setup. Click the images to see the full screen shot.
Also, don’t forget that getting started instructions are available by clicking the “Flatspace for iPhone Instructions” link near the top left of this page.
We have released the Flatspace 1.1 update to the Apple App Store and are now awaiting review and approval. The biggest change in the update is our upgraded control scheme. Players will be able to choose from tilt (accelerometer), slide, or joystick steering. We have included a few bug fixes as well (thanks to those players who have been sending comments and bug reports!) ECM is now fixed and has improved AI.
Two items that did not get included in this update:
1) Auto-scanning. We had removed the Scan button during our testing and had included auto-scanning whenever a ship is targeted. Unfortunately, this led to some significant UI problems. We ended up removing the feature.
2) In-game instructions, tutorial, and help. We’re planning on adding in-game help screens in the next update, but didn’t have it ready for this one. We still plan to release video tutorials in the near future. As always, feel free to send us emails with any game play questions.
For those of you waiting for it… our planned first update to Flatspace should be completed tomorrow (Friday the 13th). We’ll get it submitted to the App Store and out to you as soon as possible.
The update includes
2 new control setups. You will now have the option to steer via the accelerometer (current method), by sliding your thumb to turn right or left, or via a new on-screen “thumbstick”.
Auto scanning. We realized that having to hit the scanner after targeting was a little redundant. If you have a scanner equipped, targeting a ship will automatically scan it.
Bug fixes. We haven’t seen too many bugs in the first version, but those we have seen we have fixed. These include a few cosmetic and text changes, and also a fix to ECM.
More money. In custom game mode, you will now have the option to choose how much money you want to start with. Want to buy that huge ship you saw flying by? Just choose custom game.
For those of you looking for help on how to play, please check out the Flatspace for iPhone link on the upper left of this page. (The link is sometimes hard to see, but it is right next to an About link.) Or just click here: http://www.wispgames.com/?page_id=65

We have finally submitted Flatspace for iPhone to the Apple App Store. With luck, the game should be available for purchase within a couple of weeks. I’ll post further screenshots, features, help info, etc. in the coming days. Please contact us at support@wispgames.com with questions or to get more info.
Nearing the end of development! Our current target is to submit Flatspace to the iPhone app store next week, no later than Sept. 10.
We have made numerous updates to the game recently to make it more fun and more playable on the iPhone. We’re down to just a couple of minor items left and some final testing.
Here’s a screenshot from a game I played today, since I haven’t posted one in a while.
